Conference Round Up

For me, as a Birmingham Parliamentary Candidate, it's been absolutely fantastic having the Conservative Party Conference here in Birmingham. Everyone seems to have liked the facilities, both inside and outside the ICC, and there were good comments about the ease of finding your way around, the nearness of the conference hotel to the ICC, and the vast numbers of places to eat inside the ICC - where, despite the thousands of delegates, there always seemed to be a spare table to sit at.

The only complaint I have heard was that the conference hall wasn't big enough. Many people couldn't get in to debates and had to watch in the overflow halls. David Cameron's speech today was held in Symphony Hall. The queues were soon massive, and again the overflow facilities were called into action. Fortunately I had a seat on the stage so had an excellent view of proceedings!

David's speech was absolutely perfect for the occasion, and on a personal note it was great to have a film about the We Love Welsh House Farm project shown to all the delegates shortly before David spoke.

I have illustrated this post with a round up of pictures from the week. They are:
1. Meeting Harborne resident "John Bull" outside the ICC.
2. The final editing of the WHF film was done yesterday in a van parked in Rilstone Road, Quinton!
3. Volunteers were ferried to the WHF project in a fleet of Land Rovers. Many thanks to Land Rover, and also to Microsoft, the Football Association and Calthorpe Estates for their generous support of the project.
4. Taking tea with William Hague at the Church of the Redeemer in Edgbaston.
